Leading to the functional recovery of the disabled patients and preventing people from disused syndrome based on scientific analysis

Physiotherapists play a part of the rehabilitation practice for the patients with disabilities. Recently, the number of the physiotherapists who work in health promotion field is also increasing. The Department of Physiotherapy is aiming for educating the physiotherapist students under the educational goal of 1) physiotherapists with rich humanity, 2) physiotherapists with basic research skills and intension, and 3) physiotherapists with clinical practical skills.

Learning the globally approved Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) from the first year

Brief Description of the Course

The 1st year

The 1st year

The students learn primary medical subjects.
Further, the students learn some professional subjects as well as internship at off-campus institutions to acquire the practical feeling.

Basic Subjects
English 1 & 2, Writing & Expression, Informational Science 1 & 2, Basic Mathematics 1 & 2, Basic Physics 1 & 2, etc.
Basic Professional Subjects
Structure of Human Body 1 & 2 & 3, Function of Human Body 1 & 2 & 3, Lab. of Human Body's Structure and Function 1 & 2 & 3, Pathology, Rehabilitation etc.
Professional Subjects
General Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy Evaluation, Manual Therapy, Practice at Clinical Facilities, etc.

The 2nd year

The 2nd year

The students learn the basics of physiotherapy, and understand the diseases and disabilities, together with the physical and mental characteristics of the healthy people.

Medical Ethics, Medical English 1 & 2, Statistics 1 & 2, etc.
Basic Professional Subjects
Exercise Physiology, Internal Medicine 1 & 2, Neurology 1 & 2, Orthopedics 1 & 2, Psychiatry 1, Pharmacology, Nutrition, Sym-medical theory, etc.
Professional Subjects
Practical Training in Locomotives Basic Techniques for Therapeutic Exercise, Therapeutic Exercise, Practice of Personal Fitness Training, Practice of Physiotherapy Evaluation, Prosthesis and Orthotics, Practice in Clinical Observation, etc.

The 3rd year

The 3rd year

The students learn physiotherapy against various diseases, and engage in practical internship in clinical settings. They also join group seminar to start thesis works concerning research thesis.

Measurements of Physical Function, Physiotherapy, Study of Housing Environment Coordination, Practice of Physiotherapy for Orthopedic Diseases, Sports Injuries, Techniques of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Practice in Clinical Evaluation, Practice of Physiotherapy Research Works, etc.

The 4th year

The 4th year

The students will be exposed to the eight-week clinical training session twice a year. They will be engaged in writing a research thesis for graduation and prepare for the national examination of physiotherapist from the beginning of first semester.

The physiotherapy department is educating and training the future physiotherapists who are able to participate in various settings including hospitals, rehabilitation facilities for the elderly, and sports facilities. During the course, students are supposed to learn theory of physics and biomechanics in human body, and experience active learning with theoretical discussion in the class. The department has the advantage of 30 years history and a number of alumni from the department.
